Hello! My is Steevie Jane Parks, and this is my story.
I studied both theater and art as a child and young adult, before entering a 35 year long career as a Clinical Psychologist. When I retired, I decided that it was time to renew my lifelong passions for both acting and painting. Throughout my life, I've enjoyed taking on different personas as a joke to make people laugh. As a psychologist, I used my nurturing, wise voice to comfort and soothe my anxious clients. As a mother, I read to my child for hours and hours, using so many different voices, I couldn't name all of them. When I tried my hand at community theater a few years ago, I learned that my greatest strength as an actress was 'my voice'.
While surfing the internet, I discovered ' SuchAVoice'; an online voice over school. I enjoyed their free classes, and eventually decided that I would take the plunge to become a professional voice actress in my mid-sixties and enrolled in their VO Pro Program, which I completed in September of 2024. As a student at 'SuchAVoice', I tried my hand at commercials and narration as well as working specifically on audiobooks. I learned that I am particularly skilled at narrating fiction with quirky characters with accents, to be able to play characters of any age, and to seamlessly switch from one character's voice to another. I am also adept at reading serious material such as PSA's and scholarly scientific texts. I enjoy all of these types of narration equally well and am willing to accept work in all of these areas, and more. Once I made the decision to take voice over seriously, I immediately started narrating works of fiction for a group of local authors, whom I already knew. I am now finally ready to share my voice with a wider audience. Please listen to some of my recent demos to see what my voice can do for you!
