Jacob Durren

As the writer of a couple of books (An Epic of Stupidity and The Horde), I’ve had the privilege to work with Jacob Durren on the audiobook versions. He has an open mind and is willing to try out different approaches to the way he reads a story. This openness to direction and flexibility makes him a joy to work with. He isn’t afraid of trying out different tones and accents to give each character life. His charismatic voce makes the two-dimensional story have depth. You can’t help but want to listen to the stories multiple times. Plus, his pacing and annunciation abilities make it very easy to understand what is being said. My first project I had Jacob involved with (An Epic of Stupidity), was amazing. His tone and inflections actually made the comedy story a bit funnier. It was him that suggested that he tries to do different voices for the characters. I’m glad I allowed him to do that. Compared to other voice actors who just read the story with only their own voice, he brings the whole story to a higher level. When I heard the story in it’s entirety, it sounded fresh and funnier than when I was simply reading it. I enjoyed his work and his work ethic so much, that I went directly to him for my second book, The Horde. Once more, he didn’t disappoint me. I was genuinely amazed that the same person who made me laugh at my first book like it was my first time experiencing the story gave gravity and drama to this book. The way he reads the story gave me as much of a chill as the story itself. In conclusion, Jacob Durren is a very talented voice actor. Plus, he is very willing to do above and beyond what is necessary to give what he reads life. I look forward to working with him in the future. Even if that doesn’t happen, I still feel very thankful that he was able to do those two stories. He has a very bright future in front of himself in this field, if given the opportunity.
